Cabbage is an indispensable product in the diet of children, especially those prone to allergies. It strengthens the immune system and contains a lot of useful vitamins and minerals. However, many children do not want to eat this vegetable for any reason. We have collected for you 10 tips on how to get your child to eat cabbage and love it.
The French have a saying, “Hunger is the best seasoning.” When we are hungry, food seems to taste better to us, so at first we can serve only vegetables – steamed cauliflower and broccoli. Children will have no choice and can eat even the food they don’t like. But this option does not work with everyone.
Interest a child: lay the cabbage on a plate in the form of flowers, sunshine, animals.
In order to intrigue the child, rename the names of the different types of cabbage. Let cauliflower become a “white cloud,” broccoli becomes a “green forest,” and Brussels sprouts become “little salads for dolls.” The main thing is to be imaginative.
Try not to focus the child’s attention on the fact that he has to eat cabbage. As various studies have shown, children are more willing to eat vegetables, if parents don’t bore them with advice.
If a child does not want to eat cabbage in its usual form, you can sprinkle it with grated cheese or bake it in the oven with cheese.
Gradually add cabbage to different dishes, especially those that the child likes. You can, for example, make a salad by finely chopping cabbage and mixing it with other vegetables. Or add broccoli and grated cheese to pasta or an omelet – no child can resist this dish!
Kids love baked goods. Make cabbage patties or casseroles for your child.
Make cabbage rolls. They are easy to make and kids love cabbage patties.
Tell your child that you don’t have to like cabbage, but you should try it.
If all of the above tips did not help, try to disguise the product in different ways. For example, you can grind cabbage with the rest of the vegetables in a blender and add it to the soup.
