Time For Yourself: 6 Signs It’s Time For Mom To Take A Break

Mothers are used to putting everyone else first, but not themselves. However, this can affect their mental health.

Undoubtedly, being a mother is the most responsible job in the world. In the desire to be a good mother and give their children and family all the best, women sometimes forget that they are the same people who need rest.

It is important to listen to yourself and your body, and to recognize the signs that you urgently need a break. Perhaps you know perfectly well that you need a few days of rest for yourself, but do not feel that you can afford them because you have too much to do. In this case, remind yourself that the lack of rest will have a negative impact not only on you, but also on others, including children. Here are 6 signs that mom urgently needs to rest and devote some time to herself.

You feel more exhausted than before

No wonder that between sports, school, homework, work and many other things, you feel so tired. Many moms are familiar with fatigue, but believe me, you will feel the difference when it comes to real exhaustion. It will affect your body and health, manifesting symptoms such as headaches, confusion, dizziness and others. Remember that such severe fatigue and lack of sleep can lead to serious problems in the future, so do not hesitate to ask for help.

If you really feel exhausted and not just tired, then ask someone to take over for you just to get some sleep. When you are sleep deprived, you can become a danger to yourself and others, so take the time to take care of yourself a little and sleep through the day without feeling guilty.

You are easily confused or angry

Have you noticed that you have become more angry or cry? This is a sign that you need to take a break.

If you notice that you get angry when your child just throws toys around the room, then you most likely need a break. After all, children do this regularly, but you used to react to such things completely differently! It’s time to recharge.

Call a friend to just talk about it or seek advice from a specialist. Psychologists are convinced that if you go on a screaming rampage over the slightest thing, then “mom urgently needs a day off.”

You have problems with memory

When you are busy with the house, household chores, chasing the kids and working, it is very easy to forget about something. But then forgetfulness grows like a snowball and suddenly you remember that you forgot to send an important email or pick up the dry cleaning. To help yourself, write down the important things you need to do. Don’t make a long to-do list, just think about the most important things. You may feel relieved just by sitting down and writing down what you need to do.

A complete lack of time for yourself

Dr. Sanam Hafeez, a neuropsychologist, says that when you find yourself lacking in your own personal needs, it is a sign that you need to take a break. Find time that you can devote exclusively to yourself. This time can be spent reading, meditating, watching TV, going for a walk, or getting a beauty treatment. If you push yourself to the limit without finding time to relax, you will move into the abyss of depression and apathy. It is important to have compassion for others, but it is equally important to have compassion for yourself!

Absence of motivation

If you feel that your motivation has “gone on vacation”, then it’s time to give yourself a break. If you haven’t gone to a workout you’ve been wanting to go to for a long time, or if you look at the basket of dirty laundry with disgust as you approach it, then it’s a sure sign that it’s time for you to relax. It’s time to get out of the house and have some fun in the fresh air. Take the kids to the park and watch them play while you enjoy the sunshine. Or just take the kids somewhere your family has never been before. You can also take the kids to grandparents for a short time so you can just clear your head and change your focus.

You put yourself in the last place

We are so caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we can easily put ourselves last. However, this is unhealthy and can affect the psycho-emotional state of those you love. It is vital for you to take a break (and for your partner if they feel the same way) so that you can be healthy not only for yourself but also for your family. Once you start doing this, you will notice a difference in yourself and your daily mood. Also, if you are experiencing severe depression and don’t know where to start, consult your doctor.
